  • Introduction to Air Exports – the procedures and supply chain of air exports. Who Does What – the manufacturing and factory processes involved and what the freight forwarders job is.
  • Shipment Categories – including: direct (consignee, consignor, freight forwarder, master airway bill, customs broker), back to back consolidation (freight forwarder, branch offices, gateway), and consolidation shipments (house airway bill, master airway bill, consolidation manifests, customs broker and clearance and charges).
  • Documents – learn how to complete master airway bills, house airway bills and dangerous goods by air declarations.
  • Conclusion – what are the airlines responsibilities in the form of planning and monitoring capacity, communicating changes, monitoring of the build-up process and respect close out times. Learn what a manifest flight is and how to send messaging.

2.  Air Import Foundation Module:

  • Flight Arrival Procedures – includes the unloading of aircraft processes, checking cargo pallets and containers and then transport procedures to the warehouse. This module will also cover local cargo, transiting cargo, transferring cargo and special loads.
  • Documentation – how to complete the master airway bill.
  • Types of Shipment – including direct (direct (consignee, consignor, freight forwarder, master airway bill, customs broker), back to back consolidation (freight forwarder, branch offices, gateway), and consolidation shipments (house airway bill, master airway bill, consolidation manifests, customs broker and clearance and charges).
  • Check-in – learn what the physical check-in procedures are and potential discrepancies and irregularities, over shipment, short shipment and the customs entry and response.

3. Aircraft Weight & Balance Module:

  • General Characteristics – Flight Planning & Performance: what the maximum design landing weights (MDLW) are, the maximum weight allowed for landing, the maximum weight for ground manoeuvre and what the maximum design take-off weights are for the aircraft; along with operating empty weight and what the maximum weight allowed before useable fuel is added is.
  • Structural Limitations – learn about the structural limitations of different aircraft.
  • Negative Elements – learn what the impacts of weather conditions can have on the departure, en-route and landing points for the aircraft.
  • Dispatch Load Planning – even distribution of fuel and payload within specified limits.
  • Centre of Gravity Limits – Weight & Balance; including the centre of gravity limits, incorrect weight and balance aspects and the consequences of getting it right and wrong.

 4. Liquid Explosives Familiarisation Module:

  • Introduction – into liquid explosives.
  • History of liquid explosives – the history of liquid explosives and how explosives have developed through time.
  • Types of liquid explosives – the different types of explosives, their characteristics and effects.
  • Current threat – the current threat from liquid explosives and why they are used.
  • Conclusion – summarising liquid explosives and how they are detected and can be disguised.

Aims - the learning objectives of the course:

  • Determine the manufacturing processes for imports coming in.
  • Determine the manufacturing processes for exports going out.
  • Learn how to set up the procedures and paperwork for ensuring all imports and exports are accounted for,
  • Understand the structural limitations of various aircraft in the transportation process
  •  Know what types of shipment occur for packages being imported and exported.
  • Learn about liquid explosives including the different types, their characteristics and how to identify them
