Amadeus was formed in 1987 by an alliance between Air France, Lufthansa, Iberia Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines System. Today, it is the leader in terms of number of bookings worldwide with around 35% of the global market. Amadeus is very strong in Europe & Asia, weak in the Americas. Airlines that use Amadeus include Air France, Iberia, Lufthansa, SAS with other companies such as Expedia, Opodo, Ian Allen, Eden Travel and Flightline also using this GDS.
Most travel companies are computerised and use a GDS (Global Distribution System) to book flights, hotels and car hire. Learning a GDS has many benefits, it could mean the difference to you securing your ideal travel job!
It is perfect for a beginner as it gives you 40 hours of training time covering airline reservations, automated fares & ticketing, car hire and hotel reservations. This course is run online using a Amadeus simulator so you can use the software as you learn.
